Chinese whispers (дословно, Китайские перешёптывания) British English

the passing of information from one person to another, and then to others,
when the information slightly changes each time

Когда что-то пересказывается разными людьми, особенно сплетня или скандал,
то это обязательно искажается и преувеличивается. Это и есть «китайские слухи».

Example:

unusual or artificial courage or confidence arising from the influence of alcohol.

Banging (hitting or beating) one`s head against the wall — биться головой об стену, пытаться прошибить лбом стену -

 repeatedly doing something that is frustrating and has no positive result

To have one's head in the clouds, to be in the clouds — витать в облаках - to be elated, euphoric, joyful or preoccupied

An old head on young shoulders also to have a wise head on young shoulders - мудрый не по летам / годам

a child or young person who thinks or talks like an older person who has more experience:

My little nephew says people who dislike others don’t like themselves. That’s an old head on young shoulders.
